If governments, humanitarian actors and development agencies are to prevent food crises from getting worse in both severity and magnitude they need reliable, timely and accessible data and analysis to inform early warning and early action.
FSIN promotes timely, independent and consensus-based information, as a global public good for decision-support processes, as well as highlight and address possible data and information gaps.
It builds on existing country mechanisms for food security and nutrition analysis as well as regional ones. In addition, this workstream promotes and will increasingly benefit from the strategic linkages between the Global Report on Food Crises, IPC/CH and other initiatives that aim to strengthen the predictive dimension of food crises analysis to inform prevention and to trigger early responses to food crises.
